Matthew was born into a winemaking family at the forefront of Australia's wine industry for six generations. Having worked in the industry both in Australia and overseas, Matthew sold out of Yalumba and bought PIER NINE Oyster Bar & Seafood Grill in 1991. Matthew is also in partnership with his brother and cousin in the well-respected wine company Shaw & Smith.
PIER NINE operates with the vision that "by giving uncompromising quality of service and seafood, we create a total experience"
It is coupled with Matthew's credo that "quality only happens when you care enough to do your best" and this creates a culture that thrives. From the back of house to the floor staff and finally the customers, the PIER NINE experience is one that Matthew has created.
 
Westy joined Pier Nine in February 2007. With a strong background in sales and marketing with major international businesses, he brings a fresh outlook and a service oriented focus to the team.

"Paddock To Plate" was an incentive that Westy successfully set up with his own business ie growing, processing and wholesaling top quality MSA rated meat products - straight from the paddock to the restaurant plate.

As a "people person" Westy is focused on the customer and a quality dining experience - from the food that is prepared, to the service staff that attend to your every need.
